Lecture Series

Many things can be gleaned from the manner in which an individual’s home is built, especially when it is as complex as that of William Randolph III, of Wilton.  Not only is the architectural form important, the style in which it is decorated can be equally as important.  Although we often overlook it every day, paint is an influential element in how we decorate and who we are.  Historic paint and finishes expert Susan Buck brings her expertise to Wilton for this afternoon lecture that will shed light on the paint colors at Wilton and the process of uncovering what has long been painted over.  Following her lecture Colonial Williamsburg’s Shirley and Richard Roberts Director of Architectural and Archaeological Research Ed Chappell, will lead a discussion on the value of this ongoing research at historic sites, such as Wilton and Colonial Williamsburg.
